This October, the Pikes Peak region will celebrate Arts Month as a way to highlight the quality, diversity and value of arts & culture in our community.ย The official home-base for Arts Month isย www.peakradar.com/artsmonth.
Orchestrated by the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region (COPPeR), our local Arts Month initiative will coincide withย National Arts & Humanities Month, which was established in 1993 and is observed every October throughout the United States. The national program was initiated to encourage Americans to explore new facets of the arts and humanities in their lives, and to begin a lifelong habit of participation in the arts and humanities. Over the past two decades, it has become the nationโs largest collective annual celebration of the arts. October 2014 marks the first time that the Pikes Peak region will join in this national effort.
Locally, our Arts Month initiative will take the form of aย coordinated marketing campaignย in print, radio, TV, billboards, and social media that is designed to raise awareness for the areaโs creative community and showcase the many exciting arts & cultural events taking place across the Pikes Peak region during the month of October. Several local organizations are producing new programming for Arts Month, and others are re-scheduling existing activities to be a part of the celebration. Weโll also be working closely with our elected officials to recognize and promote the importance of Arts Month through formal public proclamations.
The official webpage isย www.peakradar.com/artsmonth. In addition to maintaining a comprehensive list of cultural activities and events taking place throughout El Paso and Teller Counties, this landing page will host a series of Arts Month video messages from area creatives, the latest news about Arts Month activities and opportunities, and special tips on how to make the most of your Arts Month experience. There is also a link to the officialย Arts Month โToolkitโย which features a variety of resources (logos, ready-to-use ads, draft newsletter articles, etc.) that are designed to help you get involved in Arts Month and to support our vibrant creative community here in the Pikes Peak region.
