On Nov. 4, Colorado Springs held the 2026 Mayor’s Young Leader Awards, celebrating emerging leaders, ages 18 to 40, who are making a positive impact in Colorado Springs through their professional achievements, community involvement and service.
COPPR was proud to celebrate with Jonathan Toman, who won the award for Creative Industry. Jonathan was honored for his 10-year career on staff with the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region, most recently in the role of Program Manager of Cultural Promotion and Tourism.
This year’s ceremony honored 21 finalists across seven categories, with one winner selected in each category. The awards recognize individuals whose leadership and contributions are helping strengthen the community and shape the future of Colorado Springs. Finalists in the Creative Industry category were Kai Gaynor and Matthew Beem. The category was sponsored by VENU Music Foundation.
โColorado Springs is better because of these young leaders who are using their gifts, talents and influence to serve others,โ said Mayor Yemi Mobolade. โThe finalists and winners of this yearโs Mayorโs Young Leader Awards are not waiting for the opportunity to lead. They are already opening doors for others and making a difference in the lives of those around them. That is the kind of leadership that will shape Colorado Springs for generations to come.โ
