Creative Industry Advisory Meeting at Vista Ridge

Photography, Graphic Design, and Audio/Video Professionals Invited to Advisory Meeting

The Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region is seeking professionals in commercial photography, graphic design, and audio/video production to participate in a regional industry advisory meeting on Thursday, December 3, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Vista Ridge High School.

This convening is part of the Cultural Office’s Creative Sector Partnership, an initiative designed to strengthen the Pikes Peak region’s creative economy by bringing together professionals across six creative industries to identify shared priorities, address industry challenges, and advance opportunities through research, workforce development, business resources, and advocacy.

A key component of the Creative Sector Partnership is strengthening connections between the creative workforce and education. By bringing industry professionals into conversations with regional Career and Technical Education (CTE) educators, we can help ensure that students pursuing creative careers develop skills and experiences that reflect current professional expectations and evolving industry needs.

Who Should Participate?
We are specifically seeking professionals working in three creative career pathways:

  • Commercial Photography: Commercial, advertising, product, portrait, and other professional photographers.
  • Graphic Design: Graphic designers, creative directors, branding specialists, and visual communication professionals.
  • Audio/Video Production: Filmmakers, videographers, broadcasters, audio engineers, editors, and media production professionals.

What to Expect
The meeting will bring together working professionals and CTE educators from across the region for collaborative discussions focused on three areas:

  1. Portfolio Expectations: Identifying the technical skills, creative competencies, and portfolio elements students should develop to prepare for professional opportunities.
  2. AI and Creative Ethics: Exploring how generative AI and emerging technologies are influencing creative professions, industry practices, and expectations for future professionals.
  3. Workforce Connections: Identifying opportunities for internships, mentorship, portfolio reviews, guest critiques, and other experiences that connect students with working professionals.

These conversations will provide educators with valuable industry perspectives while giving creative professionals an opportunity to help shape career pathways, share workforce needs, and establish relationships that can support future collaboration.

Through the Creative Sector Partnership, the Cultural Office hopes to build on these connections and create ongoing opportunities for collaboration between regional creative businesses, educators, and workforce development partners.
