On Nov. 17, we presented an inspiring Lunch & Learn session at the Cultural Office introducing the new “Addressing Trauma through the Arts” Toolkit and learning programs!
The Toolkit features 30 arts-based strategies designed to foster regulation, relationship, and resiliency for children and youth. Melissa and Paula shared how toxic stress impacts brain development and introduced examples of practical, science-backed arts approaches that support healing and growth.
Developed by Melissa O’Rear, COPPR’s Program Manager of Education, in partnership with Paula Hergert, Policy and Prevention Specialist at El Paso County Public Health, and local arts educators, the toolkit is now available for use throughout our community. As behavioral health needs rise, these strategies offer accessible ways for families, organizations, and community members to strengthen support systems.
