Meredith Willson’s 'The Music Man'
Presented by Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts at Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts Colorado Springs, CO
There's trouble in River City when a fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian. Meredith Willson's six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy THE MUSIC MAN follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall. Featuring songs such as "Seventy-Six Trombones," "Trouble," "'Til There Was You," "Pickalittle" and “Gary, Indiana," THE MUSIC MAN is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation. Local H
Presented by Phil Long Music Hall at Bourbon Brothers at Phil Long Music Hall at Bourbon Brothers Colorado Springs, CO
Known for their raw, high-energy sound and unorthodox two-piece setup, Local H broke through in the ’90s with their breakout album As Good as Dead, featuring the alternative rock staple “Bound for the Floor,” which cracked the Top 5 on the Billboard Alternative chart. The band followed up with the critically acclaimed Pack Up the Cats and has continued to evolve over the decades with a string of acclaimed releases, including Here Comes the Zoo, Twelve Angry Months, Hey, Killer, and Lifers.
