[more+]The artwork features the work of James Tapscott, an Australian artist renowned for his use of light as a medium in minimalist sculptural installations. Tapscottโs art is deeply intertwined with nature, creating immersive experiences that draw attention to environmental phenomena like air currents and water ripples. This approach, which he calls "site responsive," goes beyond merely being site-specific, instead forming a reciprocal relationship with the environment.
The exhibition showcases photographs from Tapscottโs Arc ZERO series, documenting installations from around the globe, as well as imagery from his Ice Core Studies, a series that began during a residency at Swoon Art House through the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) in 2018. These kaleidoscopic images are macro-photographs of Antarctic ice samples, some of which are over 400,000 years old, housed at Denverโs National Science Foundation Ice Core Facility.
