This month, COPPeR wishes best of luck to our Peak Radar Manager, Lila Pickus. Lila has served the arts community as COPPeR’s year-long Public Interest Fellow through Colorado College and is leaving us for a new opportunity in Copenhagen! On May 2, Art in Storefronts 2014 debuts work by 5 local arts groups
On Friday, May 2 from 5-8 pm COPPeR activated 5 vacant storefronts in downtown Colorado Springs with exhibitions curated by local partners: Pikes Peak Arts Council, PPCC Downtown Studio Art Gallery, The Modbo, Cottonwood Center for the Arts and the UCCS Galleries of Contemporary Art. The event features live music, food trucks and more! Click for details.

COPPeR celebrates accomplishments in our creative community regularly on our Facebook page – and there is much to celebrate! Here is a sampling of good news from April:
- Cottonwood Center for the Arts hosted State Senate candidate Michael Merrifield and US Congressional candidate Irv Halter for lunch and discussion about the arts. (4/4)
- Stargazers Theatre and Event Center announced they have put their iconic venue up for sale and begun the search for a larger home, with plans to add dance floors, recording studios and classrooms for sound engineering, retail space and more. (4/9)
- The 35th annual Arts, Business, Education Luncheon presented awards to local arts influencers across sectors. (4/16)
- The Gazette released their arts and entertainment Best of the Springs 2014, highlighting many of our creative community’s best and brightest. (4/18)
- Woodland Park introduced the community to its new Creative District Board of Directors at a forum featuring a keynote by COPPeR’s Andy Vick. (4/22)
- Janice Gould was inaugurated as the 2014-2016 Pikes Peak Poet Laureate during a celebration hosted by Pikes Peak Library District. (4/27)
