'The Roommate'
Presented by Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College at Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College Colorado Springs, CO
"The Roommate" Mainstage By Jen Silverman February 12, 2026 – March 1, 2026 Details & Tickets Midwestern housewife Sharron never had a roommate before, but after her divorce she needs help to pay the bills. Enter brash New Yorker Robyn, who may or may not have some questionable reasons why she needed out of the city. This funny and deeply moving play—recently seen on Broadway starring Patti LuPone and Mia Farrow—examines the complexities that arise between two very different women and how they navigate changing senses of identity, relevance, and the possibility of reinvention. Jim Breuer Find The Funny Tour
Presented by Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts at Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts Colorado Springs, CO
Not long after Jim Breuer did his first official standup gig in Clearwater, Florida, in 1989, industry folks began asking him, “What’s your point of view?” “I don’t know…” He searched for a meaningful response to a ridiculous question. “To make people laugh?” The freewheeling, New York bred comic storyteller – who made the list of Comedy Central’s “100 Greatest Standups of All Time” - is hotter than ever, a global touring sensation and regular presence on radio and television whose rabid audience, he’s thrilled to note, is filled with “lifetimers.” Once folks see him live, they’re hooked. Breuer estimates that 78% of his fans have seen him “five, six, seven” times. It’s becoming a family thing, with parents even bringing young teens to see the family man and father of three daughters, all providing genius “dad” material for his sets. Having evolved both personally and professionally since the beginning, Breuer’s pleased to say he’s been F-word free for ten years and counting. 'Raw, Concrete'
Presented by Cottonwood Center for the Arts at Cottonwood Center for the Arts Colorado Springs, CO
The Brutalist Movement of the 1950s-1980s got its name in part from the French phrase béton brut—”raw concrete”. It inspired artists and architects to create works that solved societal ills: income inequality, housing and food shortages, and political instability in the wake of two world wars. Their achievements still sing through the decades in the forms of public housing design, modular furniture, and bold, legible typefaces. Adornment was eschewed, but beauty was not...the woodgrain texture of plywood formwork is still visibly embedded in concrete surfaces, rust is allowed to express its nature, glass is not just a window but a portal uniting inside and outside, and paint is applied with no intention of illusion. February’s call invited artists to create works influenced by Brutalism, showing us pure materials, utility and economy, and a message—either literal or implied—that what the world needs now is authenticity, raw and concrete. Blue Canyon Boys with Colorado College Bluegrass Ensemble
Presented by Black Rose Acoustic Society at Black Forest Community Center Colorado Springs, CO
The genre of Bluegrass has its generations, with Bill Monroe and the Stanley Brothers of the first generation blending it’s way into the second generation of JD Crowe, Seldom Scene, Del McCoury and many others. Similarly, Colorado has its Bluegrass generations prominently starting with Hot Rize and the Bluegrass Patriots, and leading into the Left Hand String Band from the 80’s and 90’s. In the early 2000’s the Blue Canyon Boys formed and over the past 20 years they have landed themselves solidly atop Colorado’s second generation in the bluegrass tier. The Blue Canyon Boys are equal parts purists and innovators when it comes to Bluegrass: they stay true to the form’s roots while constantly reimagining their relationship to tradition. Never settling for the same-old-same-old nor comfortable sitting back and going through the motions, the Blue Canyon Boys continuously quest for the song and the sound that drives their collective Bluegrass spirit. The result is a toe-tapping mix of haunting standards, genre-bending arrangements, and catchy original numbers—all built on the bedrock of their collective bluegrass mastery. Ever since founding members Jason Hicks and Gary Dark launched the Blue Canyon Boys in 2003, the Blue Canyon Boys have raised the bar for bluegrass bands. They bring it all: seamless brother-duet style, crisp instrumentation, unvarnished lyrics and subversive humor. After winning first place in the 2008 Telluride Bluegrass festival band contest, the Blue Canyon Boys went off at full tilt, taking the Bluegrass circuit by storm, performing in illustrious venues across the…
