'Romeo & Juliet'
Presented by Ent Center for the Arts at Ent Center for the Arts Colorado Springs, CO
Romeo & Juliet Written by William Shakespeare and Directed by Max Shulman. These violent delights have violent ends. In his first production as Theatreworks’ Artistic Director, Max Shulman (An Iliad, Free-for-All: Pericles, Henry IV & V) returns to the Bard with a bold new vision of Romeo & Juliet. This fresh take on Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy marks a full-circle moment—honoring Theatreworks’ very first Shakespeare production in 1976. Passion, violence, and poetry collide in this electric staging, proving that the tale of star-crossed lovers is as urgent, dangerous, and heartbreaking as ever. UCCS students are always free. Contact the box office in person or by phone with your student ID to reserve seats. This production contains violence, suicide, and themes of intergenerational trauma. As each audience member is different, we don't make age recommendations, but if you have questions about the material or wish to read a copy of the work in advance, please email theatreworks@uccs.edu. This calendar listing is brought to you by Peak Radar, the Pikes Peak region's one-stop, online website for arts and entertainment events, powered by the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region.

The Jeremy Facknitz Band with Hakken Krax Howl
Presented by Loft Music Venue and Theater at The Loft Music Venue and Theater Colorado Springs, CO
Jeremy Facknitz has been delighting audiences with his brand of high-energy theatrical folk-rock-jazz for nearly 30 years. He's a 3-time finalist in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competition at Kerrville Folk Festival (Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle and Nanci Griffith are TWO time finalists), and he's been able to make performing his "day-job" for the last 10 years by taking his show on the road in the U.S. and Canada. Heavily influenced by Billy Joel, James Taylor, Elvis Costello and Ben Folds, his music is a "throwback" to when singer-songwriters weren't afraid to turn it up loud, look you in the eye and play more than the same tired four chords. He embodies the soul of an old-time troubadour, bitten by a radioactive rockstar. Tonight is a rare chance to hear his music with the full 6 piece band consisting of David Siegel (violin, Grass It Up), Ricky Sweum (sax), Mike Kimlicko (bass, Treo), Brad Plesz (drums, Treo) and John Standish (keys). Jeremy quips, "It's like tying my songs to the front of a runaway freight train." John Apice of American Highways says "This is all far above the ordinary... A good time is guaranteed for all" while John Barlass writes "Jeremy Facknitz is, indeed, a major talent – and, I can guarantee, like nothing you’ll have ever heard before." Hakken Krax Howl is a husband-and-wife acoustic duo who just really love making music that feels like something. Their sound is rooted in raw nostalgia, heartfelt harmonies, and the kind…
