Creative Flight Plan Workshop

Creative Flight Plan Workshop

The Cultural Office has partnered with executive coach JB Bolton of Bolton Co. to offer a first-of-its-kind, in-depth workshop for creative leaders in the Pikes Peak region this spring!

Remember the spark you felt when you first stepped into leadership for your creative business or nonprofit organization — that sense of purpose, energy, and possibility?

Over time, even the best leaders can lose sight of that excitement, especially when daily operations become overwhelming. Whether you’re running a small business, a nonprofit, or a community initiative, it’s easy for passion to get buried under responsibilities.

It doesn’t have to stay that way.

Introducing the Creative Flight Plan Workshop

Introducing the Creative Flight Plan Workshop — a strategic planning workshop inspired by Donald Miller’s Small Business Flight Plan, adapted for the unique needs of both creative businesses and mission-driven organizations.

Small Business Flight Plan is a proven framework that has helped over 50,000 organizations gain clarity, simplify operations, and increase their impact — and now it can do the same for you, with relevant customizations for the creative sector provided by JB Bolton and COPPR.

This intensive workshop for leaders will cover 6 critical arenas:

🙋 Leadership: Identify and prioritize the initiatives that matter most — whether that’s revenue, impact, community reach, or sustainability.
📢 Marketing & Messaging: Clarify how you communicate your mission so people understand, engage, and support it.
🧾 Sales / Fundraising: Create talking points and processes that help you secure customers, donors, or partners with confidence.
📦 Programs & Services: Audit your offerings to ensure they’re aligned, effective, and supporting your mission and goals.
🏢 Management & Operations: Build systems that reduce chaos, increase clarity, and empower your team.
💲 Cash Flow / Financial Health: Establish simple financial rhythms so you’re never guessing about stability or sustainability.

Creative Flight Plan Workshop will reignite your sense of clarity and purpose in leading your business or organization to thrive.

Create Your Guiding Principles

Every organization, business, and creative initiative needs a clear destination. Leaders define where they are going and help others stay aligned and moving in that direction.

In this session, you will clarify:

  • Your mission and purpose
  • The principles that guide your work
  • What success looks like for your organization, business, or creative practice

When your mission and guiding principles are simple, clear, and memorable, they become easier to act on. Teams, volunteers, collaborators, and employees begin to rally around a shared vision.

Best for: founders, business owners, nonprofit leaders, artists building something new, and anyone seeking clarity of direction.

Clarify Your Message Using the StoryBrand Framework

People engage with what they understand. Whether you are attracting audiences, customers, donors, or participants, the words you use to describe your work matter.

This session will help you:

  • Clearly explain what you do and why it matters
  • Communicate the value of your work in a compelling way
  • Attract the right audience, customers, supporters, and partners

When your message is clear, people begin to pay attention. They trust you faster, engage more deeply, and are more likely to return and refer others.

Best for: artists, nonprofits, creative businesses, and organizations that want to increase visibility, engagement, and demand.

Stop Selling and Invite People Into a Story

Whether you are seeking buyers, clients, donors, ticket holders, or community participation, the goal is not to push a transaction. It is to invite people into something meaningful.

This session focuses on:

  • Positioning your audience, customers, or supporters as the hero
  • Communicating how your work improves lives and solves real problems
  • Building authentic relationships that lead to growth and loyalty

When people feel part of the story, they become repeat customers, committed supporters, and long-term champions of your work.

Best for: anyone who wants to grow participation, increase sales, deepen donor support, or strengthen client relationships.

Strengthen and Refine What You Offer

Your programs, services, and products should create real value and be sustainable over time.

This session helps you:

  • Clarify which offerings create the most impact and demand
  • Identify what is worth expanding, refining, or letting go
  • Develop new ideas with greater confidence and focus

This is about aligning your energy around what works best, whether your goal is increased revenue, deeper community impact, or both.

Best for: business owners, nonprofits, and creatives managing multiple offerings, programs, or services.

Run Your Organization with Focus and Simplicity

Many organizations and businesses feel overwhelmed by too many priorities, meetings, and moving parts. This session introduces a simple structure for keeping teams aligned and moving forward together.

You will learn how to:

  • Focus your efforts around a few key priorities
  • Create alignment across staff, volunteers, and collaborators
  • Reduce confusion and increase clarity and productivity

When everyone is pulling in the same direction, people feel more valued, communication improves, and progress accelerates.

Best for: organizations, studios, and businesses with teams, volunteers, boards, or growing operations.

Build Stability and Steward Resources Wisely

Strong financial systems allow businesses and organizations to keep doing meaningful work and grow with confidence.

This session offers a simple framework for:

  • Organizing and managing cash flow
  • Preparing for taxes, planning, and future investments
  • Building long-term stability and resilience

This is about sustainability, clarity, and confidence, whether your focus is profitability, mission impact, or both.

Best for: business owners, nonprofit leaders, and creatives who want better visibility and control over their finances.
