Ready to Re-Open?

The Cultural Office recently learned that El Paso County has submitted a Multi-Sector Variance Request to the State of Colorado to support the re-opening of a variety of venues and attractions, with proper safety measures. If it gets approved in the coming days, you’ll see from the sections that are highlighted in yellow that beneficiaries of such a waiver would include some arts and cultural groups. We’ll let you when the State makes a decision about the request. Upon the Variance’s approval by the State, the next step would be for each individual cultural venue to submit its own “Safety Plan” to the El Paso County Public Health Department. Local approval of the Safety Plan is required before any cultural venue would be allowed to re-open and resume modified operations. To help you in this process, District 3 El Paso County Commissioner Stan VanderWerf has generously drafted a SAMPLE Safety Plan that you may use as a template to assist with your own approval process.

Thank you, Commissioner VanderWerf, AND a special thanks to Doug Price and VisitCOS for supporting this effort for our whole community! Please note: All of this depends on approval from the State, and would only apply to those arts and cultural groups currently included in the Multi-Sector Variance Request and geographically based in El Paso county.
