Originally, the judging panel vetted and selected nine finalists and the ultimate grantees were chosen by public vote. Starting in 2020, a panel of expert judges will select the Prize grantees and 2 honorable mentions in each category. These nine will advance to a special People’s Choice round, February 25-March 10 at noon, where the community can vote to award a special $1,000 “People’s Choice” prize and donate directly to the projects from the ballot. Regardless of the ultimate results, all participants in this round will benefit from the positive visibility and fundraising opportunity for their projects. The results of the judging panel’s granting decisions and People’s Choice Prize will be shared with the top nine applicants on March 10 and made public on March 11. Winners of category grants will receive special PR support and visibility for their projects from program partners.
