Opening Reception for ‘Stone Boats’ by Jeremiah Houck

Join us at our office in Plaza of the Rockies on Tuesday, July 11th from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. for the opening reception of
Stone Boats, O Vases, and Other Fleeting Things.

Our office is on the ground floor of the South Tower of the Plaza of the Rockies—Suite 111—in Downtown COS. Our suite faces the Pioneers Museum and can only be accessed from the outside of the building.

Stone Boats, O Vases, and Other Fleeting Things is an exhibition of freshly created stoneware ceramic pieces by local artist and educator Jeremiah Houck. Featured items include wheel thrown vases, sculpted treasure chests, and a small armada of wall floated sushi serving vessels.

This collection of freshly created stoneware ceramic pieces were crafted by local artist and educator Jeremiah Houck. The exhibition will be available for viewing during COPPeR office hours through August 28. Please call ahead or email us at info@culturaloffice.org if you’d like to view the work during office hours.

My brother once briefly dated a woman whose hobby at the time was color copying twenty dollar bills. It didn’t last long. She was arrested at a 7-11 the first time she spent one. The Secret Service even visited my mother’s house and searched a couple of my brother’s rooms, but didn’t find anything. Years later when I moved one of his old clothes dressers I found a single sheet of copied bills wedged underneath.

How did she think it would end? I have no idea, but I totally understand that urge to create something that most other people find inherently valuable. No matter what I make out of clay, I want people to want those things.” -Jeremiah Houck
