November News from the Cultural Office

Thank You for a Great Arts Month 2022!

This October, arts & culture took center stage throughout Colorado Springs and across the Pikes Peak region, as our creative community celebrated Arts Month 2022!ย This year’s campaign was a resounding success, and we can’t wait to celebrate again with everyone next October!

Arts & Economic Prosperity Surveying Underway

The last time we measured (AEP5 in 2016), the annual economic impact of the nonprofit arts & cultural sector in the Pikes Peak region was $153.3 million dollars, and supported 5,070 full-time equivalent jobs. The Cultural Office is now spearheading the local effort to generate new economic impact data as part of the AEP6 survey process, in partnership with Americans for the Arts. The same efforts are taking place in almost 400 other communities across the country.

Audience surveying at local cultural events has been underway for several months, and will continue until we collect at least 800 surveys. In January, phase two of the survey process will gather revenue, expense, attendance, etc. data from as many local arts & cultural nonprofits as possible. The data from both phases of the survey process will be compiled to produce new economic impact numbers for our community, that are scheduled be released in September 2023.ย Learn more about AEP6
