Hello COPPeR Friends,
What a great week to recognize Arts and Culture in our community. At The Mining Exchange this Tuesday, COPPeR released the Arts and Economic Prosperity Report, an economic impact study for the region’s nonprofit arts and culture industry. We all know how important arts and culture are to livability, education, business, tourism, and pride in our community and its people. However for some people, even that’s not enough, and for them it helps to have this report that tells the economic story. The study found that the combined spending of local nonprofit arts and cultural organizations and their audiences total $72 million annually, and that spending supports 2,168 full-time equivalent jobs in the region and generates more than $6.6 million in local and state government revenue every year. Sending a strong signal that when we invest in the arts, we not only enhance our quality of life, we also invest in our region’s economic well-being.
Please help us share this data with others in our community. And if you are interested this Fall, we will be creating a team of volunteer “Arts Advocates” that we will train to help spread that word about the importance of arts and culture in our community, let us know if you want to get involved.
Creatively Yours,
Christina McGrath
