“Hello, I’m Angela Seals and I’m serving as the Interim Executive Director at the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region.
The Cultural Office was founded in 2006, and so is entering its 17th year as the local arts agency for El Paso and Teller counties of Colorado. Over that time, we’ve had inspiring leadership from Bettina Swigger, Christina McGrath, and Andy Vick. In his past 9 years of service as the Executive Director, Andy established the Cultural Office to a new level of financial stability and influence in our region and the Front Range. Thank you, Andy, for your leadership!
In the days ahead, the Cultural Office will continue to build on its new strategic plan and our community’s inspiring cultural plan, Arts Vision 2030, to come into a new chapter. It’s a dynamic time!
You’ll see us continuing to lead in promotion and advocacy outside the arts community to amplify what’s happening here creatively, and encouraging more people to participate, support, and value the role of the creative sector. The arts are so important to cultural tourism, to economic development, and to the quality of life in our region. We will continue to advocate as the creative voice in civic discourse. You’ll hear me out there being loud on those important truths.
In addition, you’ll see the Cultural Office leaning further into its role as a convener and connector WITHIN the arts community. We feel passionately about building a community of practice – helping to support a thriving creative sector by connecting creative people. We’ll be helping them share great ideas, collaborate, build more diverse partnerships, and get out of the individual silos of their work to understand that they’re part of something much, much bigger. We are all a part of a larger creative momentum that really sings when we’re working together. I love that kind of work. I’m a bridge builder, like many of you – we have a highly collaborative arts community.
I’m excited for what’s ahead for the future of the Cultural Office and the arts here in the region.
