Coffee with COPPeR: October is Arts Month
On Tuesday, June 24, arts enthusiasts from across the region gathered at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center for a special Coffee with COPPeR: October is Arts Month. Lively morning music was performed by musicians from the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, ensemble Parish House Baroque, before a presentation about plans for the Pikes Peak region’s first Arts Month this October by Andy Vick, Executive Director of COPPeR.

Suz Stovall’s “Lipstick Sunset”
It’s summer time! Celebrate the beautiful weather with a First Friday Art Walk Downtown! Head to COPPeR’s Art and Information Space for the opening reception of “Suz Stovall: Color * Passion * Intent.” Meet the artist and get down to the distinct sound of local band Eros and the Eschaton from 6-8 PM. Pop over to GOCA 121 for their opening of “36 Views of Pikes Peak”, too!
Suz Stovall passionately explores color through vibrating color fields and thin, spontaneous lines. Her work is on view through September 23rd. Learn more here: http://www.peakradar.com/event/detail/441839614
We’re looking for kind souls to help staff a few final time slots where we need help at COPPeR’s booth promoting the arts at area festivals this summer. It’s a fun, volunteer gig to chat with people about the local arts scene and run a prize wheel where festival-goers can enter to win free arts experiences! Contact Fiona Horner at intern at coppercolo.org to see if you can help us during these final needed time slots this summer.
Chipping in for the Creative Cause
The day after the Coffee with COPPeR: October is Arts Month event, we received a surprise visit from Jon Khoury, Executive Director of Cottonwood Center for the Arts. Jon presented a check of support for COPPeR and Arts Month and asked us to share with you this note:
“This check represents both a symbolic and literal donation to the COPPeR umbrella that has supported us financially and tactically. It’s time for all of us arts organizations to support them. I encourage everyone to look at your books and write a check as a show of support for COPPeR and Arts Month. The future of art in our city is in our hands!”
Thank you, Jon, for inspiring us with your visit.
If YOU will answer Jon’s call to support COPPeR today, visit www.culturaloffice.org/donate.
